002 – Personalized "Thank You" Shot Glasses

Personalized “Thank You” Shot Glasses

Date: December 28, 2020

Woohoo! Goodbye, 2020! It is that time of the year where I reflect back on the year and look forward to a new year!

Project Description: For this second project, it was during a day when it was raining in Southern California (yes, rain in sunny California). I was in my mood and felt like I should somehow thank my friends and family for being with me and supporting me throughout this very very tough 2020 year. Rather than just saying “thank you” to them, I decided to make personalized shot glasses so we can someday “drink the sorrow away” from 2020. Throughout this project I was just thinking about how thankful I feel despite all of the misfortunes, I am blessed to have such a supportive group of friends and family.

Tools:

  • Clear Shot Glasses | 99 Cents Only Stores

  • White adhesive vinyl | Amazon

  • Clear Vinyl Transfer Paper | Amazon

  • Craft Tools | Amazon

  • Cricut Explore Air 2 | Walmart

  • Cricut Design Space | Cricut

Process: I got some clear shot-size glasses a while ago from the 99 Cents Only Stores, thinking I was going to use them to make some candles at home. After really looking at them more, I decided to use them to make personalized “Thank You” shot glasses for my friends. this is optional, but I first sanitized the glasses with a mixture of hot water and soap solution. I measured what would be my maximum size for the canvas. At first, I wanted to include the words “Thank You” on them but ended up not adding them because it was a little too small for my liking so I just went with the names. I used the typeface, “Baily” for the names and had them cut out with my Cricut.

Since the names were pretty small, it took me quite some time to wheel each small detail. However, as I was taking my time to wheel each individual name, I caught myself thinking about why I was so thankful for this individual. I was reflecting back at our memories together and how have they made my 2020 so much more bearable. This was definitely a much needed project for the end of the year!
